Family law issues, especially those involving custody, support, and visitation can be very complex. Moreover, for most people, gaining access to a Court that will hear your case and decide these issues can prove frustrating and difficult, especially if you do not have formal legal training. About The Children, LLC (ATC, LLC.) can help you help yourself, and contribute to your drive to resolve some of the difficulties you face when confronting parental issues and the legal process.

ATC, LLC. is a parental advocacy group striving to provide you with valuable information about the legal system as well as legal issues including, child custody, support, and visitation so that you may make the decisions you need to address these crucial parental matters. We offer a variety of services. However, one of the most important services we provide is assistance gaining access to the court through the preparation of legal documents.

One way you may resolve some of the frustrations associated with child custody, support, and visitation issues is obtaining a well-defined court order that describes your rights and obligations concerning these issues thereby taking the guesswork out of your relationship with the other parent. ATC, LLC can help you prepare the documents you need to get your case to a judge.

Before ATC can help you, however, you must understand and accept the following terms and conditions. If you do, you will gain access to our Members Website. Read the following paragraphs carefully. You may accept these terms and conditions at the bottom of this page by selecting “I ACCEPT”.

In order to help as many families as possible ATC must charge nominal fees for its services. There is a $98.00 one-time enrollment fee. This allows you to take advantage of several services ATC offers it’s members.There is also a $24.99 monthly subscription fee, which gives you continuing access to ATC services for the duration of your family court case. Please read on for a complete description of ATC services and terms.


ATC, LLC can help you represent yourself in court by helping you prepare and present the legal forms you require to have your case heard by a judge. ATC, LLC is a Legal Document Assistant. In addition to providing you with valuable information in the form of general published factual information that has been written or approved by an attorney, pertaining to legal procedures, rights, or obligations involved in a family law matter, you may also have access to our blog which contains valuable information written by non-lawyers who have, themselves, been through the process, and who are willing to offer their insight into the process and the issues they faced and how they were resolved. Additionally, we will make available to you, the published legal documents you need to get your matter in front of a judge. Then, at your specific direction, ATC will prepare these important court forms for you so that they embody a complete and accurate representation of what you wish to accomplish. Then, we can instruct you regarding getting your documents filed in the proper court and having these documents properly served on the other party.


It is very important that you understand that ATC is an advocacy group and a registered and bonded Legal Document Assistant, not a law firm. We are not lawyers and cannot represent you in court. ATC cannot provide you with legal advice, or tell you what your legal documents should or should not say. We cannot interpret your legal position, opine on your rights, or recommend any particular course of action. Notwithstanding the fact that no County Clerk has evaluated or approved our knowledge or experience, or the quality of our services, we are proud to have registered Legal Document Assistants on staff and a network of family law attorneys nationwide that we consult with to ensure that you receive the best document preparation service possible.

You should understand that, much of the information we make available to you right on our members website is free information you can find yourself if you are willing and able to do the research. Finally, if you qualify, i.e., are indigent, there may be free or reduced cost legal services available to you through your county’s local bar association, local law enforcement, the District Attorney or your local Legal Aid Foundation.


A. Enrollment Fee - As you were informed when you provided ATC with your debit or credit card information – you have already paid a onetime enrollment fee of $98.00 that will gives you access to our Members Website from which you will start your document preparation process. The Members Website contains a wealth of information you should review before you select your “plan”. The plan includes your selection of published form packets and worksheets to help you achieve your goals. A plan worksheet will then be emailed to you so that you may commence inputting information required for the completion of your legal forms.

B. Legal Document Preparation Service Fees – If you want ATC, LLC to assist you with the preparation of your legal documents, you will be charged a maximum fee of $990.00. This amount may be lowered depending on your financial situation (discuss with your Customer Service Representative). This is a one-time only charge. Financing may be available according to a plan approved by ATC, LLC. Please ask your Customer Service Representative for information regarding what options may be available to you. Your fees for Legal Document Preparation do not include any court filing fees or the costs of any legal process or other document filing service.

C. Monthly Subscription Fee - In addition to your enrollment fee, you will be charged a monthly subscription fee in the amount of $24.99 which will be charged to the credit or debit card you provide. This fee does not cover the costs of document preparation. Rather, this monthly subscription fee allows us to keep your matter active in our database and entitles you to regular contact with our Customer Service Representatives concerning the progress of your documents. Your monthly subscription also provides you with open access to our library of published and approved advocacy information concerning family law matters, as well as our monthly advocacy newsletter to keep you informed of new developments and information to assist you as you move forward with your legal process. No signature shall be required. You may keep this service for as long as you like or cancel it at any time prior to the next billing cycle by contacting your Customer Service Representative during regular business hours. However, we recommend that you keep your subscription, at a minimum, for the duration of your legal matter.

You have already paid the $98.00 enrollment fee, which is non-refundable. You have also agreed to be charged our monthly $24.99 subscription fee beginning 30 days after your enrollment, which is month-to-month with no contract. Any and all fees paid are non-refundable.

Additionally, if ATC is assisting you with the preparation of legal documents, your monthly subscription will entitle you to “Court Prep”. You will be put in touch with a person who can provide you with information concerning what you might expect prior to each court appearance or mediation session, and contribute invaluable tips concerning how to conduct yourself when you get there.

Your membership may entitle you to discounts on both current and future document preparation packages. Contact your Customer Service Representative for details.

Finally, your membership helps ATC, LLC develop programs and informational guides that are beneficial to parents facing difficult and complex family law issues all over the country. You benefit and we all benefit.


We strive to provide you with the most comprehensive and user-friendly legal document preparation assistance in the industry.

A. We provide online questionnaires so you can answer a series of questions to provide your pertinent information regarding your situation. You tell the story you want the court to consider and we will make sure it gets input properly. There is nothing more frustrating than having a court reject your documents because something was omitted or input improperly. We will make sure this does not happen.

B. Your documents will be emailed to you in draft form so that you can review them for completeness and correctness before they are printed in their final form so that you can make certain the documents correctly plead your case.

C. Your final documents will be sent to you completed and error free ready for you to sign, along with instructions regarding court filing, filing fees, and service of process.

D. ATC, LLC guaranties your documents will be prepared quickly and correctly and agrees to make necessary corrections of any typographical errors that occurred during processing.


A. ATC, LLC’s services include a review of the information you provide to complete the forms you chose for completeness, spelling, and for internal consistency of names, addresses and the like. At no time, however, do we review your answers for legal sufficiency, draw legal conclusions, provide legal advice, opinions or recommendations about your legal rights, remedies, defenses, options, selection of forms, or strategies, or apply the law to the facts of your particular situation. ATC, LLC is not a law firm and may not perform services performed by an attorney. You are completely responsible for the content of your documents and should review all documents carefully before signing them.

B. ATC, LLC strives to keep its published legal document packets current and up-to-date. However, you understand that the law can change rapidly, and even published legal forms may be outdated faster than we can be made aware. Therefore, no matter how hard we try, we cannot guarantee that all of the information on our Members Website is completely current. The law may be different from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, and may be subject to differing interpretations by different courts. The law is a personal matter, and no general information or legal tools like the kind ATC, LLC provides can fit every circumstance. Furthermore, the legal information contained on the Members Website should not be considered legal advice insofar as it is guaranteed to be correct, complete or up-to-date. You should understand that, if you need legal advice for your specific problem, or if your specific problem is too complex to be addressed by our service, you should consult a licensed attorney in your area. ATC, LLC and its Services are not substitutes for the advice of a qualified, licensed family law attorney.

C. The services offered by ATC, LLC are not intended to create any attorney-client relationship, and your use of our services does not and will not create an attorney-client relationship between you and ATC, LLC. You are, and will be, representing yourself in any legal matter you undertake through ATC, LLC’s Legal Document Preparation Service.

D. Regarding the privacy of your information, ATC, LLC respects your privacy and will not share your information with anyone. Additionally, we strive to make certain that our servers and connections incorporate the latest encryption and security devices. We have implemented physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect. Credit card and personal information are transmitted by secure servers. Documents are delivered to you via UPS or similar overnight delivery services, the United States Postal Service, or email. Unfortunately, no data transmission is guaranteed to be 100% secure and we therefore cannot guarantee the security of information you transmit through the use of our services. You provide this information at your own risk. Although we cannot make an absolute guarantee of system security, ATC, LLC takes reasonable steps to maintain security. If you have reason to believe system security has been breached, contact us immediately. Accordingly, we disclaim liability for the theft, loss, or interception of, or unauthorized access or damage to, your data or communications by using the site, applications, and our services. You acknowledge that you understand and assume these risks.

E. Governing Law and Venue – ATC, LLC exists solely within the County of Santa Barbara in the State of California. I agree that regardless of where I reside or where my browser is physically located, my use of ATC, LLC occurs solely within the County of Santa Barbara in the State of California, and that all content and services shall be deemed to be served from, and performed wholly within, Santa Barbara County, California, as if I had physically traveled there to obtain such service. I agree that California law shall govern any disputes arising from my use of the services of ATC, LLC. Any legal action or proceeding relating to your access to or use of the Site, an Application, or Materials is governed by the Arbitration Agreement contained in these Terms and Conditions.

F. Dispute Resolution – Arbitration Agreement - If a dispute arises from or relates to this contract or the breach thereof, and if the dispute cannot be settled through direct discussions, the parties agree to endeavor first to settle the dispute by mediation administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Mediation Procedures before resorting to arbitration. The parties further agree that any unresolved controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this contract, or breach thereof, shall be settled by arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association in accordance with its Commercial Arbitration Rules and judgment on the award rendered by the arbitrator may be entered in any court having jurisdiction thereof.

Claims shall be heard by a single arbitrator. The place of arbitration shall be Santa Barbara, California. The arbitration shall be governed by the laws of the State of California. The arbitrators will have no authority to award punitive or other damages not measured by the prevailing party's actual damages, except as may be required by statute. The arbitrator(s) shall not award consequential damages in any arbitration initiated under this section. Any award in an arbitration initiated under this clause shall be limited to monetary damages and shall include no injunction or direction to any party other than the direction to pay a monetary amount. Each party shall bear its own costs and expenses and an equal share of the arbitrators' and administrative fees of arbitration. The award of the arbitrators shall be accompanied by a reasoned opinion. Except as may be required by law, neither a party nor an arbitrator may disclose the existence, content, or results of any arbitration hereunder without the prior written consent of both parties. The parties agree that failure or refusal of a party to pay its required share of the deposits for arbitrator compensation or administrative charges shall constitute a waiver by that party to present evidence or cross-examine witness. In such event, the other party shall be required to present evidence and legal argument as the arbitrator(s) may require for the making of an award. Such waiver shall not allow for a default judgment against the non-paying party in the absence of evidence presented as provided for above.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may bring an individual action in small claims court.

A party who intends to seek arbitration must first send, by U.S. certified mail, a written Notice of Dispute ("Notice") to the other party. A Notice to ATC, LLC should be addressed to: Notice of Dispute, About The Children, LLC 93 Castilian Drive, Goleta, CA 93117. The Notice must (a) describe the nature and basis of the claim or dispute and (b) set forth the specific relief sought ("Demand"). If ATC, LLC and you do not reach an agreement to resolve the claim within 30 days after the Notice is received, you or ATC, LLC may commence an arbitration proceeding or Small Claims Court case. During the arbitration, the amount of any settlement offer made by ATC, LLC or you shall not be disclosed to the arbitrator.

You and ATC, LLC agree that each may bring claims against the other only in your or its individual capacities and not as plaintiffs or class members in any purported class or representative proceeding or in the capacity of a private attorney general.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, both parties hereby waive the right to appeal any arbitration award.

Further, unless both you and ATC, LLC agree otherwise, the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person`s claims, and may not otherwise preside over any form of a representative or class proceeding. If this specific proviso is found to be unenforceable, then the entirety of this arbitration provision shall not be null and void.

G. Force Majeure. ATC, LLC shall not be considered in breach of or default under these Terms and Conditions or any contract, and shall not be liable for any cessation, interruption, or delay in the performance of its obligations hereunder by reason of earthquake, flood, fire, storm, lightning, drought, landslide, hurricane, cyclone, typhoon, tornado, natural disaster, act of God or the public enemy, epidemic, famine or plague, action of a court or public authority, change in law, explosion, war, terrorism, armed conflict, labor strike, lockout, boycott or similar event beyond our reasonable control, whether foreseen or unforeseen (each a "Force Majeure Event"). If a Force Majeure Event continues for more than 60 days in the aggregate, ATC, LLC may immediately terminate these Terms and Conditions and shall have no liability for or as a result of any such termination.

H. Right to refuse. ATC, LLC reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.

I. No Guaranty of Outcome - Nothing in this Agreement and nothing in our statements to you may be construed as a promise or guarantee about the outcome of your legal matter. ATC, LLC makes no such promises or guarantees.

J. Entire Agreement - This Agreement contains the entire agreement of the parties. No other agreement, statement, or promise made on or before the effective date of this Agreement will be binding on the parties.

K. Severability In Event Of Partial Invalidity - If any provision of this Agreement is held in whole or in part to be unenforceable for any reason, the remainder of that provision and of the entire Agreement will be severable and remain in effect.

L. Modification By Subsequent Agreement - This Agreement may be modified only by an instrument in writing signed by both you and ATC, LLC. - This Agreement will govern all services performed by ATC, LLC for and on behalf of you.
